PATRICK WONG

BMus(Hons), MTeach, AMusA, LMusA, DipABRSM, LLCM, Piano Summer Institute (SUNY New Paltz)

Patrick Wong graduated from the University of NSW in piano performance, and from the University of Sydney in Music Education. Patrick holds both Associate and Licentiate Diplomas in piano from the AMEB, the Royal Schools of Music and the London College of Music. He presently studies with Elizabeth Green, UNSW Adjunct Lecturer in Piano. In 2015 Patrick completed an Honours degree, specialising in the research and performance of the Etudes by Marc-Andre Hamelin.

Since graduation, Patrick has taught both primary and secondary music at William Clarke College, Roseville College, and he is currently the Music coordinator at James Ruse Agricultural High School, a leading government selective school. He is a HSC Music marker for the Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards NSW and a Keyboard Examiner and for AMEB (NSW) up to diploma level. His students have achieved first and second place in the HSC Music courses.

Patrick is active both as a performer and accompanist. He is accredited by the Music Teachers Association of NSW. At tertiary level Patrick is a piano tutor for the University of NSW and he has tutored piano at Sydney Grammar School. He has worked as an accompanist for the Australian Youth Choir and as the accompanist for the NSW Performing Arts Unit Senior Singers. Patrick has also adjudicated local MTA music festivals and the St George Eisteddfod in 2017. He is the music director for the annual school musical at James Ruse.
Patrick has studied piano overseas at the Centre for Musical Excellence, New York and at the Piano Summer Institute, SUNY New Paltz. He has performed a solo recital for the Liszt-Schumann society at St Marys Cathedral and at the Australian Embassy in Tokyo amongst many notable venues.
